The McKinley Health Center is Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin’s first clinic in the heart of Milwaukee, providing much-needed access to healthcare services for residents on the near north side and downtown. Froedtert & MCW physicians and researchers also are working with the Milwaukee Bucks’ medical team to set a new standard for player care and sports science research.
There were different challenges that had to be strategically tackled during construction. One of the main challenges was the uncertainty of how to utilize the ground level of the structure. Working closely with Froedtert, the decision was made to put the ground level on hold for redesign. To get ahead of schedule on the first and second floor, we put in overtime and dedicated our focus to freeing up our time for the ground level. Because of the changes, we had to reverse our schedule from ground floor up to building the ground floor last.
