The Universal Care Unit at UW Health’s American Family Children’s Hospital was in need of additional space to accommodate for more space for patients and staff. The project included fit out of existing shell space on the 7th floor of the hospital to include 24 new patient beds and support space as well as Mechanical upgrades to the Air Handling unit and exhaust at the 9th floor Mechanical space. The renovation expanded the existing Universal Care Unit on the 8th floor of the hospital. The new in-patient rooms include bathrooms, medical casework, wall protection, and headwalls along with overall upgrades to mechanical, electrical, medical gas, plumbing, and fire protection.
