Meet Sam Orcholski, a Project Manager at JP Cullen.
What caused you to get into your profession?
Growing up, I always enjoyed taking things apart, putting them back together, and building things. My uncle owned a local construction company where I interned for three summers. This solidified my decision to go into construction, as I thoroughly enjoyed my time working in the industry.
What is your proudest achievement?
I would say being the Project Manager at the Fortress, a $50 million development. This is a very complex and historically challenging job and I enjoy the responsibility that comes with it.
Who has been the most inspirational to you in your career?
I really can’t pin point one exact person, but all the superintendents and managers I worked with over the years each have helped me grow and succeed in this fast paced industry. I also can’t leave out my mom and dad who have been supportive throughout my education and career.
What is one thing no one knows about you?
I think most people I work with know I’m always on the go at work, but I’m the same way at home. I don’t take my time outside of work as “down time.” I enjoy staying constantly busy buying, remodeling, and renting properties. I’m currently finishing building my house, which my fiancé and I will be moving into at the end of this month.
What is the funniest moment in your career?
This has to be when we had a group stealing from our jobsite and I ran them down and called the police. They ended up getting arrested and I was awarded a badge and handcuffs by the workers onsite for the tools I ended up saving.
