Project Description:

Ground broke for the 93,000-square-foot Lakeland Healthcare Center in Elkhorn, Wis. as the newest member of Walworth County’s healthcare facilities. The new center is located east of the existing healthcare facility. Blending quality healthcare functionality with surroundings pleasing to the eye, J. P. Cullen & Sons, Inc. joined forces with Plunkett Raysich Architects to deliver an attractive facility with home-appeal.

The new single-story, 120 bed skilled care center incorporates the comforts of home and the necessities of living. The construction consisted of four 30-bed wings with a common area that includes a beauty shop, health clinic, OT/PT area, chapel, and coffee shop/café. The common area is located at the core of the facility and captures a sense of the outdoors with its high-ceilings allowing natural light to flood through clerestory windows, and park-like atmosphere with a gazebo and potted plants.

In addition, the center provides access to a landscaped courtyard and necessary nursing support area for staff.
