Project Description:

Over 400 tons of native limestone was used in the structure of the Grand River Center in Dubuque, IA.. The building was designed to match the surrounding Mississippi River bluffs. The building features 44 individual stone columns ranging in height from 16 to 32 feet. All the piers consist of 3,000 handcrafted corners and follow the spine of the building’s interior and exterior. Each stone was cut to length and faced in the field.

Ground face block in two colors matches the design scheme of the stone columns in the exhibit hall. Pre-cast was used for a 200-foot serpentine wall that borders the river.

International Masonry Institute Golden Trowel Award Co-Winner for Best Institutional Building.
