Project Description:

Cardinal Stritch University, founded in 1937, opened Bonaventure Hall in 1962 with 531 full-time post-secondary students. With an enrollment of 7,600 students for the 2004-05 academic year, a much-needed expansion was warranted to accommodate the bustling campus.

The $11 million contract involved creating a new 107,000-square-foot wing that provides students with easier access to needed services. "Prior to this project, students would have to bounce around from office to office in order to enroll," said Jack Glynn, vice president for facilities. “Students can now enjoy a ‘one-stop’ shopping experience and will be able to take care of advising, registration, financial aid, admissions, and accounts payable in one area."

According to Cullen's Project Manager, the most challenging aspect of the project involved the monumental task of constructing half the building first – to a complete and functioning entity – before the second half of the new construction could begin.

The project progressed smoothly for students, faculty, and staff due to the diligent efforts the Cullen crew pursued in facilitating numerous coordination meetings with the architect, owner, maintenance crews, city inspectors, and the North Shore Fire Department.
