Green Building/ LEED®

J. P. CULLEN & SONS is dedicated to building sustainability and longevity and can assist you in “greening” your facility and site. We belong to the Wisconsin Green Building Alliance (WGBA) and our staff includes professionals accredited in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®). We focus this expertise to help you identify sustainable design opportunities for your building project. And if you decide upon certifying your facility, Cullen can assist you in achieving the targeted level of LEED® certification.

Preconstruction Services
Cullen experts will guide your project to move seamlessly through site selection, architecture, interior design, engineering, and construction. At every stage, our team incorporates sustainable building strategies we’ve developed through years of experience. This integrated approach keeps your project on track toward achieving targeted benefits from the earliest feasibility studies through building occupancy.

Site Considerations
Our pre-construction team presents options for a facility that delivers top efficiency within a footprint sensitive to the site. You benefit from best management practices that:

  1. Minimize site disturbance, controlling sediment and erosion
  2. Manage water resources and quality, including storm water
  3. Reduce light and noise pollution
  4. Establish native landscaping

Materials and Recycling
We use commercially available, cost-competitive materials and “green” technologies. We also offer timely delivery of building steel, wall paneling, and other materials to meet your specific needs. We work with local contractors to manage construction waste and, where appropriate, salvage materials, diverting resources from incineration and landfills.  For example, on our Lakeland School project, recently completed, we diverted 82% of discarded construction materials from the landfill and into the recycling stream.

Performance and Preservation
Cullen facilities incorporating efficient building envelope, glazing, lighting, and mechanical systems. Design concepts include green strategies such as cool roof solutions and air quality improvement technologies. Facility programming reduces operational waste while supporting recycling. And our team helps you qualify for available local tax credits or utility rebates – saving you money while preserving resources.
