Project Description:

The expansion of the existing Coronado Theatre allowed the stage house to be enlarged, improved the stage-level support areas and load-in areas, and converted original apartments on the second and third levels into support areas and dressing rooms to meet requirements of major theatrical road companies. The infrastructure was brought up to code by replacing outdated electrical, fire protection risers, plumbing, and air systems. Other needs, such as heating, cooling and emergency power, were added or updated. Additional work included: improving acoustics for the Rockford Symphony Orchestra performances; making the theatre accessible to all patrons; restoring the facade to the original design intent (including the marquee); restoring the original public areas and expanding the lobby; and providing public amenities space, concessions, box office, box office lobby, and new stairs.
